Students On Path to Success

(NewsUSA) - Parents and teachers at Lexington Elementary School in Monroe, La., feared their school was sliding into mediocrity or worse. Presence rates and planned assay copiousness were dipping. Suspensions were coup.

So school administrators implemented Lions Quest, a life-skills program. In favour of attractive percentage in workshops, teachers worked near students on relationship skills and responsible decision-making. They set high academic expectations and coordinated assistance information projects in the province.

Representing five years, a special turnabout took area. The investigation scores were the important in the district, as were the appearance rates.

"We can see and feel the difference," said principal Lynn Hodge. "Our students are another responsible. They can hear and work together."

Teachers from across the nation report similarly positive results by Lions Quest. The program trains those teaching college owing to 12th grade to teach answerability, conflict resolution, communication skills and the dangers of drug and alcohol use. Participating schools effects receive books and materials.

Lions Quest is sponsored by Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club organization. To year, other than 11 million youths own charmed scrap in a Lions Quest classroom and another than 333,000 educators and variant adults have been trained by Lions Quest. Government agencies and educational groups have noted Lions Mission high ratings.

Lions Quest students make known improved attainment proof scores; positive changes in attitudes to nub exploit and violence; downgrade rates of disciplinary problems and dropping out; and decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and substitute drugs, according to studies defunct upon the final 20 years.

Two years ago, Westside High School in Memphis, Tenn., was confused by the decease of a 15-age-old schoolboy in a gang initiation fight in a college lav. Westside students tortuous in Lions Quest organized an assembly decrying the intensity, set up lord or lady aid groups and performed community service activities.

Westside quickly rebounded.

"The students at Westside don't own a lot of choices in terms of student leadership," said teacher Nancy Byrd. "Lions Quest gave them the opportunity to step forward and participate."
